Grahamstown Gets Tagged: Cue Online

Cue Online covered the 2011 CO/MIX exhibition: collaboration between local and international artists to paint a legal wall in Grahamstown.

Instead of just doing “stupid” tags (a graffiti artist’s signatures), Schonkenchk said “I would rather go out and paint something decent, and it’s a centre of attention that people are like ‘whoa that’s cool, that’s different, that’s colourful’.”

Graffiti has a bad reputation, frequently misinterpreted by the public who think of it a type of vandalism, but this is starting to change. Part of the aim of the CO/MIX exhibition is to create public awareness of and appreciation for comic art.
